Installation Process

The following information is a guide to the installation process.

The Installation Process: Step One

Paperwork

In order for Calor to process your installation, the following items are required:

  • A copy of the quotation
  • A signed order/acceptance and disclosures
  • Site drawings, either:

- A detailed site layout plan 1:200 and site location plan 1:2500 in CAD or DXF format,

or

- Hard copies of the detailed site layout plan 1:200 (x10) and hard copies of the site location plan 1:2500 (x10)

Site plan layout

  • A signed Land Agreement form
  • A copy of the planning permission/application for the storage compound
  • Where the total LPG storage is over 25 tonnes, there are additional planning and notification requirements (your local Calor area sales specialist will provide assistance where applicable)

All the signed documentation referred to above must be given to your local Calor area sales specialist, who will ensure that your installation request is processed smoothly. Work on the installation can only proceed once the signed paperwork is collected and the necessary planning and notification requirements are met.

Where you are unable to provide the required site drawings, Calor is usually able to assist - please advise your local Calor area sales specialist.

Calor Project Manager

You will be appointed with a Calor Project Manager with significant experience in the management of central storage installations and gas distribution networks. Your Calor Project Manager will meet with you to discuss your requirements and will provide all the necessary technical information. A detailed discussion on the timescales and schedules will be undertaken.

The Installation Process: Step Three

Installation Contractors

Your Calor Project Manager will appoint a specialist contractor with expertise and significant experience in gas distribution systems. These specialist contractors usually commence work within 4 weeks of appointment. However, if you are working to tight deadlines, we will do our utmost to meet your timescales.

The Installation Process: Step Four

Civil Works, Excavation and Pipeline Trenches

Your local Calor area sales specialist will have discussed what civil works, excavation and pipeline trenching you will be required to undertake. Your Calor Project Manager will be able to supply information in addition to that provided in this document.

Calor is able to offer 'no-dig' technology for the installation of pipelines. Your local Calor area sales specialist will be able to provide more information.

The Installation Process: Step Four

Meter Readings

After installing each meter box, and if gas meters are required, the Calor contractor will complete a 'meter advice note'. This will detail the serial number of each meter installed, along with the meter reading and the date read.

This information will be logged to your account and you will be charged for any gas consumed until you notify us of the new homeowner.

The Installation Process: Step Four

Gas DeliveryGas Delivery

As soon as the Calor Project Manager has confirmed that all the appropriate site preparations and safety measures have been carried out satisfactorily (e.g. underground tank backfill complete, compound built and secure, appropriate fire protection measures etc.), we will be able to deliver your first fill of gas.

The Installation Process: Step Four

New HomeownersNew Homeowners

It is your responsibility to notify us of each new homeowner to your development where a meter is installed. When the moving in date is known, please call 08457 661 111 and ask for the Metered Estates Team. We will then amend the account so that gas consumed by that household will be charged to the new homeowner.

To transfer the account from your name to the new homeowner we will need the following information:

  • The development name
  • House (or plot) number
  • Name of new occupier
  • Serial number of meter
  • Meter reading
  • Moving in date
